The blast targeted a vehicle of paramilitary troops Frontier Corps at a busy road in the provincial capital of Peshawar at about 11:00 a.m. local time, Muhammad Zain, a rescue worker with the state-owned Rescue 1122, told Xinhua. He said that they shifted the injured in five ambulances to a nearby hospital where five of them were in critical condition. Talking to Xinhua on condition of anonymity, sources from the counter-terrorism department said that the nature of the blast was being determined, and according to the initial probe, an improvised explosive device was used to carry out the attack.
